How to choose a VMAX scooter

• First scooter, short trips: the VX5 Pro is VMAX's lightest model at 35.7 lb, with a 17 mph top speed, 840W of peak power, a 265 lb rider limit and climbing up to a 25% grade. It is the easiest VMAX to carry onto a train or up stairs.
• Everyday commuting: the VX2 Pro is VMAX's best-selling all-rounder. The VX2 Extreme adds a 1600W peak motor, 33% climbing, up to 43 miles of range, a widened footboard and a 330 lb max load.
• Hills and full suspension: the New VX2 Hub reaches 34 mph with 1900W of peak power, climbs grades up to 35% and is listed at up to 56 miles, with full suspension, a rear disc plus regen brake, a front drum brake and a color TFT display.
• Most power and comfort: the New VX4 is VMAX's most powerful model, with 2800W of peak power, a 37 mph top speed, 40% climbing and up to 68 miles of range (53 miles with the smaller battery). Hydraulic front suspension with adjustable preload pairs with a progressive elastomer rear. The original VX4 offers full suspension, hybrid off-road tires and a 330 lb rider limit.

VMAX specs that matter

Range is a maximum; expect less when you ride fast, climb or carry more weight. Climbing grade tells you how steep a hill the scooter can take; VMAX points out that the steepest street in San Francisco is 31.5%, so the VX2 Extreme, VX2 Hub and New VX4 are all rated above it. Rider limit runs from 265 lb on the VX5 Pro to 330 lb on the VX2 Extreme and VX4. Brakes on the New VX2 Hub and New VX4 combine a rear disc with regenerative braking and a front drum.
