A softball pitching machine has to work with a bigger ball and a different pitch menu than a baseball unit, and every model in this collection is built for softball. These Sports Attack machines throw off three wheels while keeping the ball in the batter's view through release, and the dial models set fastballs, risers, drops and screwballs to either side. Coaches can pick from youth-friendly machines, full-size units for high school and college programs, and the feeders and carts that keep a hitting group moving.
Match the machine to your hitters first, then decide on controls and automation.
Rise and drop pitches change the hitter's eye level, so I like to give each one its own set before mixing them. Start every block at a velocity your batter tracks comfortably out of the feeder chute, work up gradually, and only move to mixed or random pitch sequences once timing holds on each pitch type. Keep the machine operator behind a screen at all times. Rotate hitters every few minutes so swings stay crisp, and use the downtime for tee or soft-toss work on whatever the softball pitching machine exposed.
Yes. The product specifications list a conversion kit that switches both the full-size and Junior softball machines over to baseball.
The Junior Hack Attack uses its own 75-ball Team Feeder, while the Hack Attack and I-Hack share a different 75-ball version. For 11-ball Solo Feeders, one model serves the Hack Attack and Junior and a separate one is built for the I-Hack.
Per Sports Attack's specs, the Hack Attack and Junior Hack Attack throw fastballs, risers, drops and right- or left-handed screwballs by adjusting wheel speeds. The touchscreen models add saved pitches and sequences on top of that.
No. Sports Attack lists it for youth league and travel teams, and for drill work with high school and college players as well.
Running a baseball side too? See our baseball pitching machines, and round out practice with softball accessories and batting cage nets. Our pitching machine buying guide walks through wheel designs and program fit in more depth.
