Kaabo Electric Scooters

Every Kaabo scooter on this page belongs to one of three families: the Urban and Mantis commuter and crossover models, the off-road Warrior line, and the dual-2000W King flagships. That spread runs from a 44-lb folding city scooter to machines listed at 62 to 65 mph, so the right pick comes down to how far you ride, what surface you ride on, and how much scooter you are willing to lift.

How to choose a Kaabo scooter

• Short commutes and carrying: The Kaabo Urban runs a single 500W motor to 25 mph, rides on tubeless tires, unlocks by NFC and weighs 44 lbs. The Mantis 8 adds dual 500W motors and front and rear suspension in a 53-lb folding frame, also topping out at 25 mph.
• City streets with rough patches: The Mantis X Plus combines dual 500W motors with adjustable suspension and 10 x 3.0 all-terrain tires, and is listed at up to 31 mph and 46 miles. The Mantis King GT steps up to dual 1100W motors, 43 mph and adjustable hydraulic suspension front and rear.
• Trails and off-road: The Warrior X Max pairs dual 1100W motors with a 44 mph top speed and a 56-mile range. The Warrior 11 Max moves to dual 1500W motors, 50 mph, a 93-mile range and 11-inch all-terrain tubeless tires.
• Flagship performance: The King GT Pro uses dual 2000W motors, hydraulic suspension and a 112-mile range at up to 62 mph. The GTR MAX keeps dual 2000W motors, reaches 65 mph and stretches range to 124 miles on a 72V battery.

Two numbers deserve a second look. Range figures are maximums: Kaabo rates most of them with a 165-lb rider cruising at 15 mph on level ground, so expect less when you ride fast or climb. Weight climbs with performance too; the King GT Pro is listed at 115 lbs and the GTR MAX at 148 lbs, which matters if you carry the scooter up stairs or lift it into a trunk.

Trainer's take: ride with your legs, not just the throttle

Scooter control comes from your stance. Keep your knees soft, feet staggered and weight centered over the deck, and let your legs absorb bumps so your arms can steer. On a new machine, spend the first rides in a reduced speed setting where your model offers one, and practice braking and slow turns in an empty lot before you open it up. Bigger scooters punish sloppy lifting, so hinge at the hips and use your legs when you load one. Wear a helmet every ride, and add gloves and knee and elbow protection on the faster models.
