Dynamic vs Maxxus Saunas: Which Golden Designs Line Is Right for You?

Dynamic and Maxxus are both Golden Designs infrared sauna lines, and at the entry level they cost about the same. The short answer to dynamic vs maxxus sauna: choose Dynamic for the widest range of compact 1–2 person cabins, Elite upgrades to the Ultra Low EMF tier, and sizes up to 6 people; choose Maxxus if you want Canadian red cedar, corner layouts in more sizes, or a carbon far-infrared cabin rated Near Zero EMF. This guide compares the two lines factor by factor and model by model, using Golden Designs' spec sheets and our live prices.

What Dynamic Saunas Offer

Dynamic is Golden Designs' value-focused carbon far-infrared line. Golden Designs' Dynamic spec sheets list natural reforested Canadian hemlock, a tempered glass door, chromotherapy lighting with a red light feature, an interior LED control panel, Bluetooth/MP3 speakers and clasp-together assembly. Golden Designs gives 118–132°F as the ideal range, with a maximum of 140°F.

The Dynamic range in our catalogue runs from 1–2 person cabins such as the Dynamic Gracia (from $1,999) and Barcelona Edition (from $1,999) to the Dynamic Monaco 6-person (from $6,895). Many Dynamic models come in three versions: a Low EMF base model, an Elite version at the Ultra Low EMF tier, and in some cases an FS full spectrum version. The Cordoba shows all three: the Cordoba Low EMF (from $2,299), the Cordoba Elite Ultra Low EMF (from $2,499) and the Cordoba full spectrum Near Zero EMF (from $3,299).

What Maxxus Saunas Offer

Maxxus is the Golden Designs line built around wood and EMF choice. Many Maxxus cabins are listed twice, once in Canadian hemlock and once in Canadian red cedar (the CED models), and the K-series adds ZF versions that Golden Designs titles Near Zero EMF (Under 2MG).

The Maxxus range we carry covers 2 to 4 people, with corner units at 3 and 4 people. Examples include the Maxxus Seattle 2-person (from $2,299), the Maxxus Bellevue 3-person (from $2,699), the Maxxus 3-person corner (from $3,299) and the Maxxus 4-person corner Near Zero EMF (from $5,995). For full spectrum in red cedar there is the Maxxus 3-person full spectrum (from $4,899). Golden Designs' Maxxus spec sheets list the same 118–132°F ideal range as Dynamic, and the Near Zero Seattle and Bellevue spec sheets include a floor (feet) reflexology heater as standard.

Dynamic vs Maxxus Sauna Pricing: Like-for-Like Pairs

At the same seat count and EMF tier, Dynamic and Maxxus land close together, and Maxxus usually costs a little more at the Low EMF tier. Here are the closest matches in our catalogue.

2-person, Low EMF, hemlock: the Dynamic Cordoba (from $2,299) against the Maxxus Seattle (from $2,299) or the Maxxus 2-person K-series (from $2,699).

3-person, Low EMF, hemlock: the Dynamic Bellagio (from $2,699) against the Maxxus Bellevue (from $2,699) or the Maxxus 3-person K-series (from $2,999).

4-person, Low EMF, hemlock: the Dynamic Bergamo (from $3,299) against the Maxxus 4-person (from $3,699).

Corner units: the Dynamic Heming 2-person corner (from $2,699) against the Maxxus 3-person corner (from $3,299), which adds a seat.

2-person, Near Zero EMF: the Dynamic Cordoba full spectrum Near Zero (from $3,299) against the Maxxus 2-person Near Zero (from $3,099). The Dynamic adds near infrared elements; the Maxxus stays carbon far infrared and costs less. Our far infrared vs full spectrum guide explains whether the near infrared is worth paying for.

When Dynamic Is the Better Pick

Dynamic is the better pick when space, budget or group size drives the decision. It is the only one of the two lines with 1–2 person cabins and 6-person cabins in our catalogue, and Golden Designs' 1–2 person Dynamic spec sheets list exteriors around 39 x 36 x 75 inches, small enough for a spare-room corner.

Dynamic is also the line where the Elite upgrade path is clearest. The Barcelona Elite (from $2,299), Venice Elite (from $2,699) and Lugano Elite (from $3,499) each move a standard Dynamic cabin up to the Ultra Low EMF tier. For a solo user who wants a lower EMF rating without a big jump in price, I recommend starting there. For more on how Elite works, see our Golden Designs model number guide.

When Maxxus Is the Better Pick

Maxxus is the better pick when you care about wood or want the Near Zero tier in a carbon far-infrared cabin. If you prefer red cedar, Maxxus is the Golden Designs infrared line to choose in our catalogue: compare the Maxxus 4-person in hemlock (from $3,699) with the same 4-person cabin in Canadian red cedar (from $4,699).

Maxxus is also the stronger choice for corner rooms above two seats, with the 3-person corner Near Zero in hemlock (from $4,499) and the Avignon Edition 3-person corner Near Zero in red cedar (from $4,899). If you plan to sit close to the panels for long sessions, or EMF is the deciding factor for you, read our Low vs Ultra Low vs Near Zero EMF guide before choosing.

Dynamic vs Maxxus Sauna Questions Buyers Ask

Are Dynamic and Maxxus made by the same company? Yes. Both are Golden Designs lines, and every Dynamic and Maxxus listing in our catalogue carries the Golden Designs name or the DYN and MX model prefixes.

Do both lines have chromotherapy and Bluetooth? Yes. Golden Designs' Dynamic and Maxxus spec sheets both list an interior chromotherapy lighting system with a red light feature, an LED control panel and Bluetooth/MP3 speakers, so features like these are not a reason to pick one line over the other.

Can I stretch in either one? Some models are built for it. Golden Designs' spec sheets for the 2026 Dynamic Veneto, Lucca and Toscana and the Maxxus S-Line 2-person Elite list an "Easy Removable Bench - Stretching, Exercise, or Yoga." As a stretch therapist, that is the feature I would look for if you want to do mobility work in the heat, because a fixed bench limits the positions you can get into.

Can either line go outdoors? No. Most Dynamic and Maxxus spec sheets state indoor use only. For a backyard sauna, look at Golden Designs' outdoor models instead, covered in our indoor vs outdoor sauna guide.

Setup Notes for Either Line

Both lines assemble the same way and run in the same temperature range, so your setup plan barely changes between them. Golden Designs' Dynamic and Maxxus spec sheets list clasp-together assembly, and most state indoor use only, so plan for a dry indoor room, not a garage exposed to weather.

For a first session plan, start in the lower part of Golden Designs' 118–132°F range and build up as you get used to the heat. Measure ceiling height as well as floor space, since both lines stand about 75 inches tall. If you plan to add cold exposure, our cold plunge vs sauna guide explains how the two fit together.
