Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Peak Flow Fitness equipment
Infrared Saunas
What electrical requirements do infrared saunas need?
Most 1-3 person infrared saunas plug into a standard 120V/15A household outlet — no special wiring needed. Larger 4-6 person models like the Monaco Elite may require a dedicated 20A circuit. Check the product page for your specific model's electrical specs, or call us and we'll confirm before you buy.
How long does it take to assemble an infrared sauna?
Our Golden Designs and Dynamic saunas use tongue-and-groove panel construction. Most customers have their sauna assembled in 45-90 minutes with two people. No special tools required — the panels click together and the wiring is pre-connected.
What is the difference between low EMF and near zero EMF saunas?
Low EMF saunas have reduced electromagnetic field emissions compared to standard units but still produce measurable EMF. Near Zero EMF (under 2MG) saunas like our PureTech models have the lowest EMF output available in residential saunas. For daily users doing 30+ minute sessions, we recommend near zero EMF for maximum peace of mind.
How much space do I need for an infrared sauna?
Allow at least 6 inches of clearance on all sides for ventilation. A 1-2 person sauna typically needs about 4' x 4' of floor space. A 3-person corner unit fits into a 5' x 5' corner. 6-person models need roughly 6' x 5'. Ceiling height should be at least 7 feet. Call us with your room dimensions and we'll help you find the right fit.
Do infrared saunas need to be vented?
No special venting is required. Infrared saunas operate at lower temperatures (120-150°F) than traditional saunas and don't produce steam. Standard room ventilation is sufficient. Just ensure there's adequate clearance around the unit for air circulation.
Massage Chairs
What's the difference between 2D, 3D, and 4D massage chairs?
2D rollers move up/down and left/right along the track. 3D rollers add depth control — they can push in and out to adjust pressure intensity. 4D adds variable speed to the 3D movement for a more human-like massage feel. For most recovery needs, 3D (like the Kahuna EM-8300) offers excellent therapeutic depth at a mid-range price.
How much space does a massage chair need?
Most of our Kahuna chairs are space-saving designs that need only 3 inches from the wall. They slide forward as they recline instead of tipping backward. Measure about 5' x 3' of floor space for the chair plus legroom. Check the specific model dimensions on the product page.
Do massage chairs come assembled?
The Kahuna EM-8300 ships fully assembled — open the box, plug it in, sit down. Most other models require minimal assembly (typically attaching the ottoman/leg rest to the seat), which takes 15-30 minutes. Detailed instructions are included with every chair.
What warranty comes with Kahuna massage chairs?
Warranty varies by model. The LM-6800S includes a 3-year warranty. The LM-7000, EM-8300, and Dios series include a 2-year parts and labor warranty. Warranty covers manufacturer defects in materials and workmanship. Contact us for warranty claim assistance.
Can massage chairs help with specific conditions like sciatica or lower back pain?
Massage chairs with L-track or SL-track systems (like all our Kahuna models) provide continuous roller coverage from neck through glutes, which can help relieve muscle tension that contributes to lower back pain and sciatica symptoms. As a certified personal trainer and massage therapist, I recommend them as a complement to — not a replacement for — professional medical treatment.
Cold Plunges
What temperature should I set my cold plunge to?
For most people starting out, 55-60°F is a good entry point. Experienced cold plungers typically work down to 39-45°F. Athletes and advanced users may go as low as 33-38°F. Start warm, reduce gradually over weeks, and listen to your body. Read our Cold Plunge Temperature Guide for detailed protocols.
Do I need a chiller, or can I use ice?
You can use ice, but a chiller eliminates the daily ice run and keeps your plunge at a precise, consistent temperature 24/7. For daily use, a chiller pays for itself quickly in convenience and consistency. Our Dynamic Cold Therapy Barrel and CUBOID are available with optional 0.6HP, 0.8HP, or 1.0HP chiller systems.
How often do I need to change the water in a cold plunge?
With a chiller and filtration system, water can last 3-4 months with proper maintenance (water treatment tablets or a UV sanitation system). Without a chiller, ice-only setups should be drained and refilled every 1-2 weeks depending on use frequency. Keep the tub covered when not in use.
What's the difference between the Barrel and the CUBOID?
The Barrel is our most compact and affordable option ($2,899 tub only) with a round 42-inch form factor — ideal for solo use in tight spaces. The CUBOID is a larger rectangular tub ($6,499 tub only) with a 50-inch 304 stainless steel interior that provides more room for full-body submersion. Both use the same grade stainless steel and are compatible with the same chiller systems.
Can I keep my cold plunge outdoors?
Yes. Both the Barrel and CUBOID are built with 304 stainless steel interiors that handle outdoor conditions. If using a chiller outdoors, ensure it's protected from direct rain and has adequate ventilation. In cold climates, the chiller will work less to maintain temperature, reducing energy costs.
Red Light Therapy
How does red light therapy work?
Red light therapy (photobiomodulation) uses specific wavelengths of light — typically 660nm (red) and 850nm (near-infrared) — to stimulate cellular energy production (ATP) in your mitochondria. This accelerates tissue repair, reduces inflammation, and supports muscle recovery. It's non-invasive, painless, and backed by thousands of peer-reviewed studies. Read our Red Light Therapy 101 Guide for the full breakdown.
How long should a red light therapy session last?
Session length depends on the device. The Novaa Healing Laser needs only 5 minutes per treatment area due to its concentrated output. The Deep Healing Pad XL typically requires 15-20 minutes. The Recovery Pod (full-body blanket) delivers a therapeutic dose in 20 minutes. Consistency matters more than duration — daily use yields the best results.
What's the difference between the Novaa Laser, Pad, and Recovery Pod?
The Healing Laser ($299.90) is for precision targeting of specific injury sites like trigger points, joints, and tendons. The Deep Healing Pad XL ($599.90) covers larger areas like your full back or both shoulders. The Recovery Pod ($2,500) wraps your entire body for head-to-toe treatment in one session. Choose based on whether you need targeted, regional, or full-body coverage.
Is red light therapy safe to use every day?
Yes. Red light therapy is non-invasive and has no known negative side effects at recommended doses. All Novaa devices are EMF-free and designed for daily use. Most users see the best results with consistent daily sessions. All Novaa products come with a 60-day money-back guarantee.
Can I use red light therapy before or after a workout?
Both. Pre-workout sessions (5-10 minutes) can increase blood flow and warm up muscles, potentially reducing injury risk. Post-workout sessions (15-20 minutes) help reduce inflammation and speed up muscle recovery. Many athletes use the Novaa Deep Healing Pad XL immediately after training for targeted recovery on the muscle groups they worked. Consistency is what matters most — pick the timing that fits your routine and stick with it.
Do I need eye protection during red light therapy?
For panel and pad devices like the Novaa Deep Healing Pad XL, direct eye protection is generally not required at recommended distances, but avoid staring directly into the LEDs. The Novaa Healing Laser is a concentrated Class 3B device and should never be directed at the eyes — protective goggles are included with the laser. The Recovery Pod is designed for body use with eyes closed. When in doubt, wear the provided eye protection. All Novaa devices include safety guidelines specific to that product.
Gym Equipment
Do your gym machines come with a warranty?
Yes. Warranty terms vary by manufacturer and product. Muscle D Fitness equipment typically includes a limited lifetime frame warranty and 1-2 year parts warranty. Body-Solid products include their standard warranty coverage. Specific warranty details are listed on each product page. Contact us for warranty claims or questions.
How is heavy gym equipment shipped?
Large gym equipment (leg presses, hack squats, power racks) ships via freight carrier on a pallet. Delivery is curbside — the carrier will bring the pallet to your driveway or building entrance. You'll need to move the equipment inside yourself. We recommend having 2-3 people available for large items. Tracking is provided once shipped.
What's the difference between a functional trainer and a home gym system?
A functional trainer has two independent cable columns that allow free-range, multi-angle movements — ideal for sports performance, rehab, and functional strength. A home gym system (like the Body-Solid EXM3000LPS) combines multiple fixed stations — lat pulldown, chest press, leg developer — into a single unit with guided paths. Functional trainers offer more exercise variety and natural movement. Home gym systems are better for beginners who want a structured, easy-to-follow workout. Browse our functional trainers and home gym systems to compare.
How much space do I need for a power rack or smith machine?
Plan for a minimum footprint of 7' x 5' for most power racks, plus 4 feet of clearance in front for barbell loading and stepping out. Smith machines need similar floor space. Ceiling height matters — most racks are 80-84 inches tall, so you need at least 7' ceilings (8' preferred for pull-ups). Check the product dimensions on each listing. Call us at 646-921-5221 with your room measurements and we'll confirm which models fit. See our full power rack collection.
Can I use commercial gym equipment at home?
Yes — and it's often the better choice. Commercial-rated equipment is built with heavier gauge steel, higher weight capacities, and longer-lasting components. The extra cost upfront saves money over time because commercial gear doesn't wear out or develop wobble like light-duty residential machines. Brands like Muscle D Fitness and Body-Solid build equipment rated for gym floors that performs even better in a home setting with less use. Browse our commercial gym equipment collection.
What weight capacity should I look for in a home gym?
At minimum, look for a machine rated at 250 lbs or higher for the weight stack and 300+ lbs for the user weight capacity. If you're an experienced lifter or plan to progress over time, choose equipment with 300-400 lb stack capacities. All Body-Solid and Muscle D equipment we carry meets or exceeds these thresholds. The product page for each machine lists exact weight capacity specs.
Financing & Warranty
What financing options do you offer?
We offer 0% APR financing through our checkout on qualifying orders. You can split your purchase into monthly installments with no interest, making high-ticket items like saunas, massage chairs, and cold plunges more accessible. Financing options appear at checkout — select your preferred payment plan and get approved in seconds. No hidden fees.
Is there a minimum order amount for financing?
Financing is available on most orders. The minimum order amount and specific terms depend on the financing provider at checkout. Larger purchases typically qualify for longer repayment periods with lower monthly payments. If you have questions about financing a specific product, call us at 646-921-5221 and we'll walk you through your options before you buy.
How does manufacturer warranty work when buying from Peak Flow Fitness?
Because we are an authorized dealer for every brand we carry, your manufacturer warranty is fully honored — no gray market concerns. If you experience a warranty issue, contact us first at 646-921-5221 or support@peakflowfitness.com. We'll handle the claim process with the manufacturer on your behalf, including coordinating replacement parts and service. You don't need to chase the manufacturer yourself.
What do warranties typically cover?
Most manufacturer warranties cover defects in materials and workmanship. Frame/structural warranties are often lifetime or 10+ years. Mechanical parts (motors, rollers, cables) are typically covered for 1-5 years. Electronics and upholstery usually have shorter coverage periods (1-2 years). Normal wear and tear, misuse, and unauthorized modifications are generally excluded. Each product page lists the specific warranty terms for that item.
What happens if my product arrives damaged?
Inspect all deliveries before signing for them. If you see visible damage to the packaging or product, note it on the delivery receipt and take photos immediately. Contact us within 48 hours at 646-921-5221 or support@peakflowfitness.com with photos of the damage. We'll file a freight claim and arrange a replacement or repair at no cost to you. Do not refuse the delivery unless it's severely damaged — accepting with noted damage speeds up the claims process.
Can I extend my warranty?
Extended warranty options depend on the manufacturer and product category. Some brands offer extended protection plans that can be purchased at the time of sale. Contact us before or at the time of purchase to ask about extended warranty availability for the specific product you're interested in. We'll give you a straight answer on whether the extended coverage is worth it for that particular item.
