Traditional Saunas
Traditional Finnish-style saunas — wood-burning and electric heater systems delivering the high-heat steam experience: 180-200°F+ temperatures with controlled humidity from water on heated rocks.
We carry traditional saunas from Finnish Sauna Builders (premier US source for authentic Finnish), Dundalk LeisureCraft (Canadian-made cedar barrel and cabin), Harvia (heaters and complete packages), and supporting brands.
Traditional vs infrared — what's different:
- Heat profile — traditional 180-200°F+ (hotter than infrared 120-150°F)
- Humidity — controlled löyly steam from water on heated rocks (infrared is dry heat)
- Session length — 10-15 min sessions (vs 30-45 min for infrared)
- Cardiovascular intensity — higher heart rate response (good for athletic recovery, may be too intense for daily users)
- Energy use — generally higher than infrared (heating to 200°F costs more than 140°F)
Choose by configuration:
- Indoor cabin sauna — built-to-fit interior installations (basements, dedicated wellness rooms)
- Outdoor barrel sauna — Western Red Cedar exterior, weather-resistant
- Outdoor cabin sauna — larger group capacity (4-8 person), full traditional Finnish experience
- Heater type — electric Harvia (3.5-9 kW) or wood-burning (Cilindro, M-series)
Electrical & venting requirements:
- Electric heaters — dedicated 240V circuit (3.5kW = 30A, 6kW = 40A, 8kW = 50A)
- Wood-burning heaters — proper class A chimney venting required
Free shipping on orders over $999, exclusions apply (saunas ship freight).
