Plates

Olympic and standard weight plates — bumper plates, calibrated competition plates, rubber-coated plates, cast iron plates, urethane plates, and change plates for every training need.

We carry plates from Body Solid (residential and commercial), York Barbell (Olympic and competition spec), Bells of Steel (functional + powerlifting), XMark Fitness (mid-commercial), and supporting brands.

Choose by training style:

  • Olympic lifting / CrossFit — bumper plates (10–55 lb pairs, color-coded competition or solid black training spec). Required if you drop weights from overhead.
  • Powerlifting — calibrated competition plates (IPF spec, narrow profile for higher max loads on barbell). Optional but worth it for serious meet prep.
  • General home gym training — rubber-coated cast iron plates (2.5–45 lb). Cheaper than bumpers, works fine if you don't drop weights.
  • Premium home gym — urethane plates (longest-lasting coating, premium aesthetic, commercial gym standard)
  • Commercial Olympic floor — full bumper set + calibrated plates for elite athletes

Specs to verify:

  • Bore size — 2" Olympic standard (for 28-28.5 mm Olympic bars). Standard 1" bore plates won't fit Olympic bars.
  • Plate diameter — bumper plates 17.7" (450 mm); calibrated plates same. Cheap cast iron varies.
  • Weight tolerance — competition spec ±10 grams; training spec ±2-3% acceptable
  • Bounce — bumpers should be dead-bounce or low-bounce (excessive bounce wastes energy and risks ankles)
